6:03am
My old cracked weather radio
Squawked again with static.

“Winds 14
North by Northwest
Sky cloudy
Temperature dropping
42 by 10am.

Incoming tide
Cold day fishermen
Frenzies going on
Blues & Stripers biting
Tight lines”.

Rusty, my old Jeep
Rumbled through curves
Past Vineyard Haven Harbor
Lonely boats and masts
Rocking to the rhythm of the water.

Blue smoke
Trailing Rusty’s rear pipe
Oil again.
The hell with it.

Tackle box . Rattling
Stinky cooler live slimy eels. Secure
Rod . Snug in dirty rags
Reel . Oiled skin smooth
Line. New 20 lb test.

Another cold morning
With my best buddy Jim
On the water
In his rigged fishing boat.

Bloddy Marys at 9
Jokes, puns, laughs.

Cries echo over water
“Fish on”.

Martha’s Vineyard. “Birth Of Dawn”

_HMG5936-EditUnited States
Martha’s Vineyard
Through Harold’s Lens:

Long before the birth of dawn
Slowly
Emerging from black.

Rising yellows
Surfacing oranges
Bursting blues.

I open my salt rusted door
Creak
Squeak
Old, trashed Jeep
Rusty’s his name.

Sling tackle box in
Sling waders in
Sling cooler in
Nestle fly rod carefully on tattered wool sweaters.

During the birth of dawn
Dew blanket
Smothers all.

Robins chirp
Their morning welcome.

Worms wiggle
Pedals unfold
Color abounds.

Soft yellow light
Pops from windows
Weathered shingled cottages.

Waves of hot coffee waft
Through dense mist.

Me
With solo beach time
With waves
With wet sand
With whipping fly rod

With enjoyment
With tranquility
With purity
With peace

With a nibble
With a bite
With a tug
With a large striped bass

After the birth of dawn
Sun shines
Shadows flow.
Island alive
Folks everywhere.

Forty pound striper
Bled out
Gutted
Fillet.

Grilled feast tonight!
Another day on my special island.

Cozy & bundled
Nestled in arms
In loved-worn sweaters
Over tattered college sweats.

She with Chardonnay
Me with Merlot.

Rhythm of the sea

Buns nestled
In warm mounds of sand.

Heads nestled
In suntanned shoulders.

Toes nestled
In loose grains of gold.

Rhythm of the sea

We had danced
To pounding surf.

We had kissed
To splashing waves.

We had loved
To glows of orange and red.

Rhythm of the sea

Warm love between us
Deep love growing
Memories of a tender island summer
Moments of a chilly early fall.

Rhythm of the sea

All is quiet now
Only sounds of surf
Only stars in skies
Only moon beams crossing waves.

Rhythm of the sea

She off to Wellesley
Me off to Stanford
2500 miles of dirt
Hearts sagging
Tears rolling.

Rhythm of the sea

Grapes gone
Sunset black
Sleep.

Rhythm of the sea

Through Harold’s Lens:

Through Harold’s Lens is honored to have received the “Wonderful Team Member Readership Award” from http://utesmile.wordpress.com.

Many of you know this upbeat woman from London, UK as “Ute”. I have always called her “Miss Positive”.

Whatever is happening in the world, my life, the weather, you name it, I can always depend on “Miss Positive” to find the positive ray of light. Always with a sincere dose of passion.

Ute will Ballroom dance around your feelings and Tap Dance herself into your heart. If music swings your moods, turn to Ute. She’s always dining on healthy food, slipping into meditation, balancing her beautiful life, laughing, smiling, just living in that toasty, happy zone.

Need a touch of inspiration? As Ute says “Dream what you want to Dream; Go where you want to go”. Your first step is to take a peek at Ute blog “Ute smile”: http://utesmile.wordpress.com, her Facebook page “Ute Lark”: https://www.facebook.com/Utesmile?fref=ts or her other Facebook page “Lets be positive together”: https://www.facebook.com/letsbepositivetogether

I always start my day by walking through the cool, soft sand and casting my lure towards “Miss Positive”. Sets my tone. Makes me a happy fisherman.

“Liebster Award” Presented To Through Harold’s Lens

Through Harold’s Lens:

Through Harold’s Lens is honored to have been awarded a Liebester Award by http://cecilia-maria.com.

The Liebester Award is given to smaller bloggers to give recognition and encouragement, and to help the rest of the blogging community discover their blogs.

In presenting The Liebster Award, http://cecilia-maria.com. said she wanted to say thank you to Through Harold’s Lens and to let Harold know how much she appreciates his blog.

Cecilia came dancing out onto the stage floor of my blog, and into my heart. It was when I was posting my photographic series on Mexico’s Ballet Folklórico de San Miguel de Allende. As a speaker, writer and professional dancer, Cecelia was using the art of dance in deep union with her beliefs in the Catholic church. She founded Dance Immaculata. http://danceimmaculata.com/about/. There’s a stunning photograph of her on the cover.

Cecelia laughs at the days to come and chronicles her light-hearted journey in the everyday moments of life. And laugh and smile she does. In everything she does. I’ve gone from post to post to post as Cecelia reflects deeply, yet with pure joy, on her adventures with friends, family, the beauty of life, Catholicism and so much more.

Dear fun, smiling Cecelia, thank you. The inner beauty you bring into our world can come only from your heart. A heart that is treasured by blogging friends all over the world.
