“San Telmo Sunday”

ARGENTINA Through Harold’s Lens:

The cobblestoned street neighborhood of San Telmo in Buenos Aires comes alive every Sunday.

Artisans, musicians, street performers and antique vendors come from near and far to share their treasures and their talents with the public at the weekly antique fair Feria de San Telmo.

ARGENTINA Through Harold’s Lens:

The race is on
Here comes pride up the backstretch
Heartaches a-going to the inside
My tears are holding back
And tryin’ not to fall
My heart’s out of the running
True love’s scratched for another’s sake
The race is on and it looks like heartaches
And the winner loses all.

Thank you for the words and music, legend George Jones.

“Where have you been my loving husband to be?

I’ve been waiting here in the hot sun for over two hours”, Sofia angrily said.

“This is the 7th time you have done this to me!”.

Nicolás paused.

Slurred out “well, ah, ah ah I saw Javier as I was walking over here. The Boca Juniors were playing ball on the tv at the Bottle Bar. Javier is my Best Man so I thought we could spend some time together watching the Juniors”.

Sofia responded, “I had my cell, you could have called me.”

Sheepishly, he mumbled “I did not think of that”.

Tune in to Club Atletico Boca Juniors!

A fierce professional football team in the La Boca neighborhood in Buenos Aires.

One of the most popular and most successful football teams in Argentina, and one of the most successful in the world, having won 43 official titles.

A Club with a tough history founded over 105 years ago by five Italian immigrants.

If you can even find a ticket, get it.

Grab a hard hat.

Gear up with combat clothing.

Grasp a cold beer
Grasp a case.

Climb into Boca’s home stadium’s trenches for another rough rivalry game.

Boca Juniors Game Day!
Bloody nose
to
Bloody nose time!

“Stoned?”

ARGENTINA Through Harold’s Lens:

Never know!

Who cares!

In the middle of the San Telmo neighborhood, sitting in the middle of the street, dressed to the hilt, smothered in white powder, he remained stone motionless. A full tin cup of pesos by his side.

Many tried to get him to move, wiggle or blink.

I wondered how he emptied the tin cup.

“Abrazo”

Sweeping through barrios
Under overhanging trees
Down smoothly paved roads.

A casual stroller is met with variety
Beautiful moving murals
Depicting the colorful culture

Magical South American city

Buenos Aires.

* Abrazo. A Latin American embrace.

“Musical Seduction”

ARGENTINA Through Harold’s Lens:

As our intertwined couples passionately engage themselves with the rhythms of the tango our musicians appear; acoustic guitar, deep throaty sax, maybe some violins, piano, a double bass and a bandoneon.

“Patience”

Patience Beautiful!

A delicious Latin man is near.

Tango is ad lib on the street corners, and you may be the next woman selected.

Life’s a surprise in Buenos Aires.

“Favorite Photograph” Selection For Through Harold’s Lens Image “Fantasy Of Passion”

ARGENTINA Through Harold’s Lens:

High noon
Buenos Aires

The warm, golden sun washes the city square.

You stand alone in your sultry, swishy dress with bared midriff watching the intertwined couples dance lustfully to the romantic and sexy music.

A tall, handsome man appears in front of you.

He bows gracefully. In a language you don’t comprehend, he asks you to dance.

Your reflex is hesitant, until you peer into his deep inviting eyes and roll over his tanned face.

Your finger tips touch with electricity as he gracefully escorts you among the other dancers.

Your afternoon is consumed in the arms of your stranger to the rhythm of the earthy music, the swish of your skirt, the twists and intertwining of your legs to the sensuous Tango.

This happens everyday, only in Buenos Aires!

Selected as the “Favorite Photograph” and reposted on http://toemail.wordpress.com.

“The Story?”

ARGENTINA Through Harold’s Lens:

So What Is Your Story Here?

A husband surprised by the appearance of his wife?

The husband covering his inebriated woman’s face?

Maybe a sister who thinks her brother is goofy?

The clue
His right hand.

The fun continues…only in Buenos Aires!

“Wild Talent!”

Today
Through Harold’s Lens begins a fun new photographic series into the light, breezy and whimsical side of Buenos Aires, Argentina.

Our journey takes us up close and personal.

Put on your dancing shoes.

Snap on your high heel sneakers.

Sling a splash of color.

Slink into deep thought or passion.

Grasp a cold beer or hug a stem of red.

Add a dose of tango.

Let’s have some fun!

The canvas on the artist’s easel was huge. A creation of a portrait was underway. Paint flying everywhere. Colors slung against the canvas from two feet away.

I was glued to the artist’s hands.

Then I saw his feet.

TANZANIA Through Harold’s Lens:

It is with tear drops and sadness that today I am saying goodbye to my dear friends the Maasai.

Over the past two months, they given me their trust and love and allowed my lens to take an intimate journey into their lifestyle, challenges, passions and sadnesses.

My journey through our rich world must continue.

I sincerely hope that you have enjoyed our jaunt into the up close and personal life of this very special African culture.

In January, we embark again.
